DIA Fort Wayne/Fort Wayne Taco Fest- A Celebration of Life! We are excited to be involved with this year’s Fright Night event hosted by the Downtown Improvement District. Over 30 organizations will have booths and activities for everyone. This is the 10 year anniversary of the event. Over 10,000 attendees expected to participate.


On Saturday, October 20, 2018 the USF Performing Art Center downtown (previously the Scottish Rite) will be transformed to celebrate the Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos. Admission is FREE! Noon-7 pm. There will be live music, some of areas best taco vendors, beer garden, face painting, games, lucha libre wrestlers and ofrendas (elaborate offerings dedicated to the spirit of the departed). Artists will be onsite to help turn you into a Calaca (Spanish word for skeleton). Enter to win the Best Calaca/Skeleton Costume Contest. Dia de los Muertos can be traced back to the Catholic holiday of All Saints' Day. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods & beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. Deadline for applications is Friday, September 21, 2018.
